1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten In-Person

Come find out about our 1000 Books before Kindergarten Program at our 1000 Books Party for families with infants, toddlers and preschoolers (ages newborn to 5 years). Kindergarteners are welcome to come to the party too!

At our 1000 Books Party, you will find out about  how you can participate in our 1000 Books Program, and you will receive a book list that will help children gain exposure to rhyming books!  Rhyming is an essential skill for learning to read and one that is required of kindergarteners.  At our party you will also gain sample activities that you can do at home with your child to promote this essential literacy skill and enhance their reading skills. You will also be able to get signed up for the 1000 Books Program right at the party!  Finally, your child will get to pick a free book, decorate a book bag,  a small stuffed animal to read to, and a snack!

Numerous studies have shown that as many as 1 in 5 children have difficulty with learning to read. The 1000 Books Program encourages parents and caregivers to read with infants, toddlers and preschoolers to enhance literacy development from a young age and give children entering kindergarten an extra boost, and to help them develop a love of reading.  The goal of the 1000 Books Program is to read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!  This may sound difficult, but reading as little as one book per night, for 3 years with your child, and you will be there!
